Heart burn is the major symptom of Acid Reflux disease. This is a

burning pain felt in the chest mostly after meals. The pain

sometimes is so severe that it can be confused with a heart attack.

Mostly the pain is not so severe and disappears after as few hours of

eating. In some cases it is caused by overeating or eating foods that

contain too much fat, spices or sugar.

To some people the Heartburn Acid Reflux, can actually interfere

with their every day lives and needs constant medication or surgery.

But mostly the symptoms of the disease are mild and can be treated

with a change of the lifestyle since the disease is mostly caused by

eating the wrong foods, at the wrong time and in the wrong measure.

You might be wondering how the burning pain in your chest

otherwise known as Heartburn Acid Reflux happens. This is how it all

starts: When we eat food, the stomach lining produces hydrochloric

acid to digest it. Sometimes the valve connecting the stomach and the

oesophagus, the Esophageal valve, does not fit correctly. This valve

is supposed to let food and fluids into the stomach and not out. When

there is a malfunction acid and sometimes fluids refluxes into the

oesophagus.

The stomach lining can not get corroded by the acid because it is

protected by a mucus membrane. The oesophagus does not have the mucus

membrane thus it is corroded.

To avoid Heartburn Acid Reflux, we should eat healthily. We should

avoid fatty foods, acidic foods, caffeinated beverages, spicy and

sugary foods. Overeating, smoking and taking of alcohol are also

causes of the condition.

Foods like whole grain cereals, vegetables, fruits and a lot of

water should be taken in small portions but regularly throughout the

day.
